WHAT WILL YOU DO AS A SUPPORT WORKER

No two days look the same, but you’re never on your own

Supporting clients to plan activities

As a support worker, you’ll help people plan their week and take part in activities that matter to them. This might include appointments, hobbies, or trying something new in the community.

Building positive, trusting relationships

A big part of the role is building strong, trusting relationships with the people you support. Through conversation, listening, and shared moments, you’ll help people feel safe, valued, and understood, including supporting them with everyday tasks such as routines and medication, in line with their care plan.

Helping clients learn everyday skills

You’ll support clients to build practical skills for everyday life, like using a phone or getting more confident with technology. You’ll do this at their pace, offering encouragement and reassurance along the way.

I’ve been empowered to be a support worker here at St Anne’s. I’ve been given all the necessary training I need. I’ve also had the opportunity to take additional courses to improve my skills in my day‑to‑day work. Even though I’ve only been here for 2 months, I absolutely love what I do. I am a better version of myself now than I was before joining St Anne’s. My managers are really supportive and encouraging

Esther, Support Worker

One thing I wish people knew about St Anne’s is just how large the organisation is and the wide variety of services we provide to support a diverse range of people. No matter which service you walk into, from North Tyneside to Hull and Leeds, the staff are always welcoming. The level of care and support we provide across the organisation is truly top‑notch.
